Frequently asked questions about PEPS

How did PEPS come about?

Acknowledging how tough it is to be a new parent, a group of concerned local residents came up with the idea of PEPS in 1982. Since then, we have grown and exanded, but we've always stayed true to the original intent of the founders, which was to provide a supportive place for parents to share and learn from each other. All the details on our history can be found here.

Is PEPS all volunteer run?

No. Although we couldn't achieve our mission without the incredible support of our volunteers, PEPS does have a small staff that makes sure everything runs smoothly and that we will be able to continue supporting parents for years to come.

Why does the Newborn Program have a fee?

PEPS is a non-profit organization. The fee covers part of the cost of the program, with the balance being underwritten through the generosity of foundation, corporations, and individuals who believe in what we do. The fee is currently $150 for one participating parent and $200 for two participating parents. Partial or full scholarships are available for qualifying families.

Do I need to sign up for a Newborn Group? When do I do that?

Yes. You can register up to four months before your baby is due and up to 3 months after the baby is born. We suggest you register early, since there is limited space in each Group and often a waiting list. Newborn Group Registration Form.

Does PEPS offer Moms-only/Dads-only groups?

All parents are welcome to attend all groups.

Does PEPS serve Snohomish County?

We currently serve some South Snohomish County zip codes (98012, 98020, 98021, 98026, 98036, 98037, 98043). Families from these zip codes are placed into groups with families from North King County. Newborn Group Registration Form.
