AmazonFresh Helps Make Parents' Lives Easier
~ By Angie Ballas, Red Tricycle
Heidi Robinson became a member of the Queen Anne/Magnolia PEPS couples group when her (now 8 year old) daughter was a baby.

She recalls how important it was to connect with other parents and get much-needed support "at a time when we didn't know which way was up." 8 years later, she still gets together with many of the other families; a testament to the connections they made through PEPS. Heidi, who has 2 girls (ages 8 and 13) running in and out of the house, knows that parents never seem to have enough time on their hands.

The busy mom has worked for locally-based Amazon.com for 12 years and has been working on AmazonFresh since its inception. AmazonFresh is an online grocery delivery service available in neighborhoods all over Seattle and the Eastside. It makes life much easier for parents who can do all their grocery shopping (including diapers!) from their home computer instead of hauling the kids through the grocery store at a time when everyone is hungry and cranky. For Heidi it's a plus to work for a company whose services she also utilizes! "While AmazonFresh is great for new parents, I'm discovering that with two older kids in school and lots of activities to shuttle them around to, I'm busier than ever! Using AmazonFresh means I don't have to spend my weekends grocery shopping."
One of Heidi's favorite features is the same and next day delivery. "You can place an order in the evening and have it delivered to your doorstep by the time you wake up in the morning," says Heidi. That means no more midnight runs to the store when you're out of milk for the morning! The ability to order many of Amazon's other top-sellers to include in your grocery delivery is also extremely convenient. The other day she ordered her groceries as well as a DVD for a birthday gift, saving yet another trip to the store. AmazonFresh has a huge selection of fresh and organic foods, local products (like Zing Bars & Red Ribbon Gourmet), gluten-free options, and everything "baby" (formula, baby food, and the lowest prices on diapers in the Seattle area; they'll even match it).
Helping make parents' lives easier seems to be a common goal of both PEPS and AmazonFresh. That's why it was a natural fit when AmazonFresh decided to support PEPS as an event sponsor for the Annual Luncheon in April and as the Presenting Sponsor for PEPSapalooza, PEPS’ first ever Family Music Festival in August. Many AmazonFresh employees have been PEPS parents themselves including the Director of Marketing, John Anderson, who says "Here at AmazonFresh, we're proud to be a part of PEPS and the support they give parents of infants and young children in the King County area. We're continuously looking for ways we can connect with our customers, and being involved with the PEPS community has provided a great opportunity for us to give back."
Says Executive Director, Laura Kussick, “PEPS very much appreciates the support that AmazonFresh has shown us in 2009. We rely on generously minded community investors like AmazonFresh who align with our mission, support the important work we do in the community AND help make parents' lives easier!”
