Baby Peppers

Baby Peppers FAQs

Who is Baby Peppers For?

Baby Peppers is for parents and their babies to attend together. When a group begins, all babies are between five and twelve months old.

What happens at Baby Peppers?

Parents meet, share, and learn in volunteer-facilitated sessions. Each meeting includes a chance to share your parenting highs and lows from the past week, songs and games for the babies, a break for informal socializing and connection-building, and then group discussion on a subject related to the adventure of parenting your baby as he or she becomes more mobile and learns exciting new skills.

When and where is Baby Peppers offered?

Baby Peppers groups meet once a week, for 90 minutes per session. Each group meets for 11 weeks (8 weeks in the summer). Baby Peppers is site-based, which means it meets at the same location every week, rather than rotating around to members' houses as the Newborn Groups do.

When should we sign up for Baby Peppers?

Groups fill up quickly, so sign up soon. As available sessions fill, we post the dates for the next session.

What does it cost to join Baby Peppers?

Fees for an eleven-week program (spring, fall, or winter quarter) are $155 per family. Both parents are welcome to attend although the majority of our groups remain 1 parent attendees rather than couples groups. Fees for the eight-week summer quarter are $120 per family.

Payment due at time of registration. (Can be refunded if you cancel at least three weeks before the group begins.) If a Baby Peppers group does not meet its minimum enrollment, as rarely happens, we will cancel it - in this case, you could either choose a different group to attend, or receive a full refund.

How do I request a scholarship for the PEPS Program Fee?

PEPS wants to serve EVERY family that registers for a PEPS Group. Financial hardship should never be a deterrent when considering joining PEPS. We happily provide income-based scholarships in for 20-75% off fees, and full scholarships in special situations. Requests for scholarships will be possible once you select the session and location of your group.

Is Baby Peppers limited to certain types of families? Is Baby Peppers just for Moms?

PEPS is open to all families with babies 5-12 months old (when the group begins). Some of the families have participated in a PEPS Newborn Group, but many are new to the PEPS community.

All parents are welcome at Baby Peppers sessions, although typically groups tend to have just 1 parent attending rather than couples. Most morning groups attract moms, but dads are very welcome!

What is the difference between Baby Peppers and the Newborn Program?

The babies in Newborn Groups are less than five months old when the group begins; babies in Baby Peppers are five to twelve months old. Newborn Groups meet in members' houses, Baby Peppers is located at a public facility. Both types of groups are led by trained volunteers, and follow very similar formats: sharing highs and lows, song time, breaks, and discussion, but the discussion topics are geared to the developmental stage of the participants.

What do parents say about their Baby Peppers Experience?

Here are a few quotes from recent evaluations:

  • This has been a great experience for both of us.
  • Our leader is fabulous! Thoughtful, educated, caring, and a great facilitator. Makes everyone very comfortable, and is very informative.
  • The best part was sharing ideas and resources with other parents. Loved having a community of other moms and kids the same age.
  • Loved the connection to new moms in group, and wonderful leader that created an environment of honesty and love - just wonderful!

What other programs does PEPS offer?

Orientation, Newborn Groups, Little Peppers, and the Parent Talk Lecture series.
